New Delhi:
The country's industrial production declined by 3.8 percent in October due to
the slowing of manufacturing activities due to a decrease in demand.
However, industrial
production index (IIP) data suggest that the pace of decline in production has
slowed slightly, as October's decline was 3.8 percent, lower than the 4.3
percent decline in September 2019.
Factory production
growth rate in the month under review on an annual basis is nowhere close to
the 8.4 percent recorded in October 2018.
The Ministry of
Statistics and Program Implementation said, "IIP's tentative estimate for
October 2019 is 127.7 with the base year 2011-12, 3.8 percent lower than the
October 2018 level."
According to the
data, manufacturing output declined by 2.1 percent in October.
