Share Market: Stock market boom, Sensex closed at 40356.
Today, the stock
market closed with a gain on Friday. The Sensex gained 70.21 points to close at
40,356.69 and the Nifty rose 23.35 points to 11,895.45. The BSE Sensex rose
more than 300 points in early trade in the early days of banking, auto and
energy stocks amid positive trend from global markets this morning. At one
time, the Sensex was up 223 points at 40,509.49 and the Nifty was trading at
11,929.20 with a gain of 57 points.
The BSE Sensex rose
313.76 points, or 0.78 per cent, to 40,600.24 points in early trade. The
National Stock Exchange's Nifty also climbed 77.60 points or 0.65 percent to
11,949.70 points in the initial period.
There
was a rise in shares of these companies
State Bank of India,
Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, Vedanta, ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank, Tata Steel,
Mahindra & Mahindra, HCL Tech and Sun Pharma gained up to three percent.
The decline in shares of these companies
In contrast, shares
of HDFC, NTPC, Axis Bank and Bajaj Auto fell by 0.43 per cent.
The stock markets in
Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul are trading at an edge, with reports of
the first phase of trade negotiations between the US and China being in the
final stages. Brent crude oil futures were up 0.45 percent at $ 62.56 a barrel.
