Sensex today: stock market opens sharply, Sensex rises 68 points.

 The stock market opened higher on Thursday. The BSE Sensex, based on shares of 30 BSE companies, jumped 62.87 points to open at 40,178.93. At the same time, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty gained 18.3 points to open at 11,858.75. In early trade, 10 companies were trading on the green mark while 20 companies were trading on the red mark on the BSE, while 15 stocks were trading on green mark on the NSE and 35 companies were trading on red mark.

The Sensex was down 31.35 points (0.08%) to trade at 40,084.71 at 9.57 am, while the Nifty slipped 22.15 points (0.19%) to trade at 11,818.30.

Shares rise

 

Yes Bank shares rose 2.42 percent, Infosys 1.97 percent, Asian Paint 1.02 percent, Maruti 0.82 percent and Sun Pharma shares rose 0.80 percent on BSE. At the same time, Infosys shares on NSE saw the maximum increase of 2.10 percent, Yes Bank 1.32 percent, Asian Paint 1.24 percent, Eicher Motors 1.15 percent and Titan's share was 1.04 percent.

  Shares fall

IndusInd Bank shares on BSE saw the highest 3.21 per cent, Bharti Airtel 3.11 per cent, Tata Motors DVR 2.42 per cent, Tata Motors 1.93 per cent and SBI 1.26 per cent. Infratel shares fell 8.18 per cent on BSE, 3.59 per cent in Bharti Airtel,  2.26 per cent in Tata Motors and 1.97 per cent in Hindalco's shares.
