New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Forbes has been ranked 34 in the list of 100 powerful women in the world. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is at number one in the list, and second in line is the Chairman of the European Central Bank, Krissin Lagarde. Sitharaman is ranked six and eight ahead of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and US President Donald Trump's daughter and adviser Ivanka Trump on Forbes' list of the world's 100 most powerful women.


Sitharaman is also higher than New Zealand Prime Minister Jessinda Ardern in the list.

Maharani is ranked 40th and Ivanka Trump is ranked 42nd in the list. Not only this, Sitharaman also ranks above New Zealand Prime Minister Jessinda Ardern in the list. Ardon is ranked 38th on the list. Water list

Finance Minister new to Forbes' list of powerful 100 women
During the tenure of the Narendra Modi government, Sitharaman was given the charge of Finance Minister. In the previous government, she was handling the Ministry of Defense. Arun Jaitley refused to join Modi's cabinet this time due to being unwell and Sitharaman got the credit for being the country's first full finance minister. Earlier, the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had additional charge of the Finance Ministry for some time. The Finance Minister is new to Forbes' list of powerful 100 women. Milinda Gates is ranked sixth on the list and IBM CEO Ginni Rometti is ranked ninth. Facebook's Chief Operating Officer (COO) Shreyal Sendberg is at number 18 and singer Rihanna at number 61.
